About the role
Ku-ring-gai Council is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our employees, contractors and community.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Work Health & Safety Advisor to support and enhance Council’s safety culture and WHS systems.
Reporting to the Team Leader - Risk Advisory, the WHS Advisor will provide professional advice and operational support across Council to ensure compliance with work health and safety legislation, codes of practice and Council policies.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide expert WHS advice to managers, supervisors and staff
- Support the development, implementation and review of WHS policies, procedures and systems
- Assist with incident investigations, risk assessments and hazard management
- Coordinate WHS audits, inspections and corrective actions
- Monitor legislative changes and promoting best practice WHS initiatives
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Council’s safety culture
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or substantial relevant work experience in the WHS field, or a willingness to undertake further training
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- Return to Work Coordination Certificate, or a willingness to obtain
- General Construction Induction (White Card), or willingness to obtain
- Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and regulatory requirements
- A proactive and practical approach to risk management and problem-solving
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
