About the role
In this role you will gain hands-on, real-world experience across governance, records, information access and organisational improvement—working on meaningful tasks that support transparency, decision-making and service delivery to the community.
Along the way, you will build practical skills, learn from experienced professionals and set yourself up for future roles in government, legal or corporate environments.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Help track and report on Council performance, projects, and KPIs—including contributing to the Annual Report
- Get involved in governance and information access by assisting with document searches, public registers and policy updates
- Work hands-on with records by registering correspondence and managing digital files in Council systems
- Ensure information is accurate, well organised and handled with care and confidentiality
- Help identify and support improvements to processes, systems and workflows across Council
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Currently studying in the penultimate or final year of an undergraduate degree in business, law, public policy, information studies, records management or other relevant qualification
- An interest in governance, local government, records and transparency
- Strong attention to detail and discretion with confidential information
- Good time management and the ability to juggle competing priorities
- Clear communication skills and a helpful, friendly attitude
- Confidence using Microsoft 365 and other digital systems
* Salary for this position is as per the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
