About the role
As a key member of our Urban & Heritage Planning Team, you will play an important role in shaping Ku-ring-gai’s streetscapes, parks and public spaces. You will contribute to the Ku-ring-gai Public Domain Plan, develop inspiring design concepts for key centres and help translate strategic plans into projects that enhance how people experience our places every day.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Design inspiring public spaces by developing concept plans for streetscape and park upgrades across Ku-ring-gai’s local centres.
- Provide specialist landscape architecture input, including CAD drawings, graphics and visual material for strategic plans, policies and presentations.
- Support delivery of the Ku-ring-gai Public Domain Plan, translating strategic objectives into practical design outcomes.
- Engage with the community and stakeholders including residents, businesses, agencies and landowners to inform design outcomes.
- Coordinate and manage consultants, including preparing project briefs, evaluating proposals and reviewing deliverables.
- Support project delivery and approvals, including environmental assessments, exhibition documentation, DA referrals and preparing projects for handover.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Degree qualified Landscape Architect with eligibility for registration with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).
- Minumum of 5+ years’ experience delivering landscape architecture projects from concept through to tender documentation.
- Experience working in Local Government or similar environments, with knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate consultants and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong design and visual communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality graphics and presentation material.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp and MS Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
