About the role
Reporting to the Strategic Management Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting the Manager Finance and senior accountants in ensuring that timely and accurate accounting financial records and systems are in place so that the Council may meet its statutory obligations. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing accurate, timely and customer focused accounting information and advice to budget managers
- Assisting the preparation of Council’s Annual Budget, Long Term Financial Plan, Quarterly Budget Reviews, Monthly Financial Reports and other Management Reporting
- Providing solutions to systems issues and coordinating system testing within the finance team
- Developing, implementing and maintaining accounting systems and financial controls within Council
The post holder will need to switch between management accounting and financial system administration/improvement, giving more or less emphasis to each at certain times, to meet organisational needs.
Being able to successfully manage competing priorities and high volume of work effectively within tight timeframes is a key requirement of this position, as is the ability to work with discretion and complete confidentiality.
This is a great opportunity for someone with sound knowledge and experience in contemporary accounting principles, methodologies and systems.
To be considered for the role you will require tertiary qualifications in accounting, and/or experience in similar role and be eligible for CA/CPA status. You will be proficient in using software applications in particular Technology One and Microsoft Office products.
