Bushfire Operations Officer
- Salary $88,557.35 to $102,727.05 p/a + super
- Permanent full time position – 35 hours per week

Located 16 km’s north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales’ most attractive natural environments.
About the role
As a Bushfire Operations Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing procedures to enhance bushfire risk management programs in alignment with the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Bush Fire Risk Management Plan. Your duties will include:
- Contributing to the review and enhancement of the Bushfire Risk Management Plan
- Representing the Council on various committees and working groups
- Providing training on bushfire planning and management
- Preparing environmental impact assessments and burn plans
- Liaising with community stakeholders and regulatory bodies
- Participate in Bushfire Hazard Reduction activities
Qualifications, skills & experience
We are seeking candidates with:
- Diploma in Environmental or Bushfire Management
- Certifications in Public Safety, burn plan development, and chainsaw operation
- Extensive experience in bushfire firefighting and hazard reduction burning
- Proficiency in GIS software, MS Office suite and the NSW Rural Fire Service Guardian application.
- Current Class C Driver’s licence
