About the role
Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanic to join our Infrastructure Services team. This hands-on role involves the servicing, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of Council’s fleet and plant, including trucks, heavy and small plant and specialised equipment.
Reporting to the Coordinator Mechanical Workshop, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Perform scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairs on Council vehicles and plant
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults efficiently and accurately
- Ensure all work complies with WHS requirements and relevant standards
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
- Assist with fleet inspections and defect rectification
- Work collaboratively with depot staff to minimise downtime
Qualifications, skills & experience:
- Automotive trade qualification from a recognised tertiary institution
- Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Council (MVRIC) Licence
- Current MR Driver Licence
- SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card
- White Card (General Construction Induction)
- Operator National Certificate of Competency (one or more of: LF, LL, LB, LS, LE, WP)
- Enter and Work in Confined Spaces, First Aid, Working at Heights and cross-cut saw / chainsaw certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and servicing motor vehicles, trucks and small plant and equipment
- Mechanical experience across a broad range of mobile plant, including heavy plant, transport, small plant, golf course equipment and auxiliary equipment
- Proven ability to diagnose mechanical faults and determine effective repair solutions
