About the role
Council is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Plant Operator – Road Services to join our Infrastructure team.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating heavy plant, and being part of a team delivering high-quality public infrastructure.
As a Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating various plant and equipment to carry out road construction, drainage, and maintenance activities across the Ku-ring-gai local government area.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Safe and efficient operation of plant equipment including loaders, skid steers, and excavators
- Assisting in drainage maintenance tasks
- Assisting in road patching, pavement repairs, and other civil maintenance tasks
- Conducting daily pre-start inspections and routine maintenance of plant
- Ensuring works are carried out in line with Council safety and environmental standards
- Working collaboratively with a small team to meet project deadlines
Required experience & skills
- Demonstrated experience in road and drainage construction or maintenance
- Proven experience operating plant machinery
- Current Class MR driver’s licence
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer service
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions on site
