About the role
Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Library Technician to join our dynamic team across our vibrant network of public libraries.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for public libraries, excellent people skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality library services.
Reporting to the Library Team Leader (Turamurra), your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the library including circulation, shelving, and returns
- Deliver exceptional customer service to library users of all ages
- Support readers’ advisory and basic reference services
- Assist in the delivery of programs and events (e.g. storytime, author talks, workshops)
- Perform cataloguing and processing of library materials as required
- Maintain library collections and displays
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Qualification in Library and Information Science recognized for library technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
- Current Working With Children Check
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a diverse team and interact with the public
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with library systems and digital tools
- A passion for books, learning, and community engagement
- A flexible, team-oriented approach and a willingness to work across multiple library branches
- Previous experience in a public library or similar customer service environment is desirable, but not essential

**As a part of the branch network team this role will be required to work at any of our libraries as rostered. A willingness to work flexible hours on occasion, including rostered evening and weekend work will be required**
