About the role
Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Development Assessment & Duty Planner to join our dynamic team and play a vital role in delivering high-quality planning outcomes that reflect the values and expectations of our community.
Reporting to the Team Leader Development Assessment, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Undertake assessment and reporting of development applications
- Ensure all DA reports are accurate, complete, and meet legislative and policy requirements
- Provide timely and expert advice to the public and stakeholders in person, via phone and by correspondence
- Investigate complaints and prepare responses and reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure all actions align with environmental legislation and Council’s environmental policies
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning processes
Qualifications, Skills & experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Building Surveying or a related discipline
- Experience in statutory planning, development control, and environmental assessment
- Comprehensive understanding of development assessment procedures and relevant planning legislation (eg Environmental Planning & Assessment Act)
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Commitment to delivering high-quality service to the community
- High level of computer literacy, including planning software and Microsoft Office suite
