About the role
This role supports the delivery of financial management reporting, budgeting processes, and business support services across Council. You will also assist in maintaining and improving Council’s financial systems while working closely with internal stakeholders to enhance reporting and financial decision-making.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- End of month journals
- Assist in the monthly review and reconciliation of Council’s expenditure and income
- Preparation of monthly financial reports and analysis of income and expenditure
- Supporting the development of annual budgets and quarterly budget reviews
- Maintaining and reconciling financial ledgers and budget allocations
- Monitoring capital and operational project budgets
- Preparing ad hoc financial analysis and reports for management
- Assisting with Long Term Financial Planning and statutory reporting
- Supporting staff with financial systems and reporting tools
- Assisting in the maintenance and improvement of financial systems
- Contributing to annual financial statements preparation
- Supporting the review and development of financial policies and procedures
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger structures
- Experience with financial systems maintenance and troubleshooting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software such as Technology One
