About the role
Council is seeking a dynamic and motivated Youth Development Officer to join our team.
As a Youth Development Officer, you will play a key role in designing, delivering, and evaluating innovative programs and services that support the personal growth, wellbeing, and engagement of young people in the Ku-ring-gai community.
You will work closely with schools, community groups, and local agencies to create opportunities that inspire and empower youth aged 12-24.
Reporting to the Youth Services Coordinator, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement youth-focused programs and initiatives aligned with council’s strategic objectives
- Foster partnerships with local organisations, schools, and stakeholders to enhance youth participation
- Provide advocacy, support, and mentoring for young people in the community
- Coordinate events and workshops that promote leadership, skills development, and social inclusion
- Monitor and report on program outcomes and community needs
Required qualifications, experience & skills:
- Relevant qualifications in Social Science, Youth Work, or related fields
- Current First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain), a Class C driver’s licence, and Working with Children Check clearance
- Proven experience delivering direct services and developing programs for young people
- Strong organisational, administrative, and programming skills
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to engage effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
