About the role
Council is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver a diverse portfolio of capital works projects across Ku-ring-gai.
In this role, you will provide expert leadership throughout all stages of project delivery, from initiation to completion. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, oversee contractors and consultants, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and legislation.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital works projects, from initiation to completion, including roads, footpaths, drainage, parks, sports facilities, buildings, and Environmental Levy works
- Prepare and manage project briefs, design specifications, tender documents, budgets, and project plans
- Oversee contractor and consultant selection, induction, supervision, and performance
- Monitor project progress, budgets, risks, and compliance, providing regular reports to Council and stakeholders
- Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, regulations, design standards, and environmental management policies
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including reports, progress updates, variations, and handover records
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve high-quality outcomes and organisational objectives
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field, OR substantial contemporary experience in a similar role
- Construction White Card and Class C Driver’s Licence
- Minimum 7 years’ senior project management experience, preferably in local government, with a strong track record delivering multidisciplinary capital works projects
- Extensive experience in contract administration, tendering, budget management, and project lifecycle delivery from initiation to completion
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage, motivate, and assess contractors, consultants, and project teams
- Excellent knowledge of legislation, regulations, design standards, and codes of practice relevant to infrastructure construction and management
- Strong communication, consultation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools
