About the role
Ku-ring-gai Council is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our employees, contractors and community.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Work Health & Safety Advisor to support and strengthen Council’s safety culture and WHS systems.
Reporting to the Team Leader – Risk Advisory, you will provide professional advice and operational support across Council to ensure compliance with work health and safety legislation, codes of practice and Council policies, while contributing to continuous improvement in workplace safety and risk management.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing Council’s WHS Management System and Strategic Plan
- Driving a positive and proactive safety culture across the organisation
- Conducting workplace inspections, audits, investigations and risk assessments
- Supporting injury management and return to work programs
- Coordinating WHS training compliance and maintaining accurate records
- Providing practical WHS advice, risk controls and legislative guidance to teams across Council
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent experience)
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and safety best practice
- Experience delivering WHS programs, investigations, audits and risk assessments
- Demonstrated experience in injury management and return to work coordination
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels
- Strong organisational and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic records systems
