About the role
Council is seeking a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor to join our team.
As a WHS Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of our health and safety programs across the Council.
You will work closely with staff, managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all workplace practices comply with current WHS regulations and promote a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment.
Reporting to the Team Leader Risk Advisory, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide expert advice and guidance on WHS policies, procedures, and legislation
- Assist with risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits
- Develop and deliver WHS training and education to employees
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and best practices across all areas of the Council
- Support the implementation of WHS initiatives and safety programs
- Promote a positive culture of safety and wellbeing within the workplace
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Cert IV Work Health and Safety or extensive work-related experience in the field of WHS or willingness to undertake training
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
- Return to Work Coordination Certificate or willingness to undertake training
- WHS general construction induction White Card or willing to undertake training
- Apply First Aid Certificate or willing to undertake training
- A strong understanding of WHS legislation and regulations
- A proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
