About the role
As Team Leader Governance, you’ll be at the heart of Council operations—leading a high-performing team, ensuring legislative compliance and strengthening the systems that underpin public trust.
From coordinating Council meetings and supporting the Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee, to overseeing information access and privacy obligations, your work will directly shape how Council serves its community.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and coordinate the Governance Team to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services
- Oversee Council meeting processes, including business papers and accurate minutes
- Provide expert advice on governance, privacy and information access legislation
- Manage GIPA applications, subpoenas and Council’s information access obligations
- Develop and maintain governance frameworks, policies and compliance systems
- Support the Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee (ARIC) with reporting and secretariat services
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Governance, Law or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in local government or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of GIPA, privacy legislation and the Local Government Act
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team
- Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
